According to Germany’s Federal Environment Agency, private households in Germany generated about 6.3 million tonnes of food waste in 2022 – 74.5 kilograms per person per year.
Common leftovers and what to make
| Leftover | Possible use |
|---|---|
| Cooked rice or pasta | Fried rice, pasta skillet, bake |
| Single vegetables | Omelette, soup, stir-fry |
| Stale bread | Croutons, bread salad, French toast |
| Ripe bananas | Porridge, banana pancakes |
| Leftover roast or chicken | Wraps, salad, rice skillet |
How to enter leftovers
Leftovers are often hard to spot in photos, e.g. in containers. Use the text field: “cooked rice from yesterday, half a zucchini, 2 eggs”. The more precise the amounts, the better servings and nutrition fit. “Low calorie” is preselected on this page but can be changed anytime.
Safety first
AI cannot judge whether food is still good. Check leftovers for smell, appearance and storage time before cooking. More about the tool in the fridge-to-recipe tool.
Cooked it? Track it.
GymLog AI logs meals via photo, voice or chat – with daily targets for calories and macros.
